Söderhamn Innovation is a family-owned company in Söderhamn, founded by Paul Brändström, who started the business in 1986 with specialized switchgear floors for industrial environments. The following year, he launched his own invention, the Emergency Opener – a product for safe evacuation – which became a central part of the company's range.

After a generational change in 1993, the son Lars Brändström took over the company and continued the development, and since May 2023 the business has been led by the third generation, Gustav Brändström. Today, Söderhamn Innovation is an established player in security solutions, with a focus on Emergency Openers for escape doors and Grepper drum handling equipment, especially designed for the safe handling of oil drums.
